The History of YOCONTO®

The story of YOCONTO begins in the 1840’s as the former and first president of the new founded Dominican Republic has an idea.
He decides to teach his people a way to develop theirselves and defence theirselves against the allies.
Not by teaching them a classic martial art or showing them how to fight but with a set of philosophical thoughts and insights, that he explored.

He found out that with the process of thousands years of evolution the primal instinct of human beings developed and internalised technics to defence themselves fully automatically.
He got this point as he observed wild animals in the forests of the island, while the independence war of the Dominican Republic.
Later this cognition was confirmed again, as he watched children who were playing around.
Pedro Santana also discovered that every organism is unique in the way it moves. And so is the human being.

At this moment he noticed the important parallels between wild animals and the human kind – the instincts.

So he asked himself why this skills were disappearing trough growing up and becoming adult.
The root of this vanish was that the human individual gets limited by social conditionings as a side effect of modern society.
Social conditioning is essential and crucial for living together and the community.
But the way how this conditioning is get done brings also negative effects with it – we get limited and learn to hide our own abilities because of social anxienity.

So he set the goal to free the human mind from these self set limitations that were set trough the development of society.

He decided to keep this as a secret in his family because the public wasn’t ready yet to understand this.
He aimed that this knowledge is reached trough every generation of the his family. So the stone stared to roll.
Every generation of his family developed this knowledge further and further in a way that Pedro Santana never taught about.
The generations started to educate themselves more and more about the human being, the way how we work and function.
This was the tradition and core value of this noble family.
Until someone broke this chain.

The name of this man is George.

He was fascinated about this whole knowledge that his family developed over so many years.
George was so deep into this mentality that he brought this whole knowledge to a new level.

He developed a non-systematic and structureless martial art. Something what his ancestor held for impossible.
The first of this kind. He created YOCONTO at exactly this moment.
Not just a martial art but a way that let every person develop, define and develop himself with their own set of unique movements.

Soon this art became a lifestyle.
